A proud Dallas native and first-generation college graduate, L. D. Thomas brings an unwavering commitment, genuine passion, and deeply personal perspective to his legal practice. He holds a Juris Doctor from UNT Dallas College of Law, a Master of Public Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations with a concentration in Business and Economics from the University of North Texas. Combined with more than fifteen years of experience in real estate and mortgage services, Mr. Thomas brings a rich, multidisciplinary foundation to every client relationship.
As the founder of The Law Office of L. D. Thomas, PLLC, he has built a reputation for legal excellence in estate planning, probate, and heirship matters. His commitment to comprehensive, client-centered counsel has made him a trusted advisor to individuals, families, and business owners across Texas. Under his leadership, the firm has been honored as the “Best Law Firm in Black Dallas” in 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 — a testament to the firm’s consistent standard of excellence and its deep roots in the community it serves.
Mr. Thomas is also an accomplished legal scholar and civic leader. In 2024, he was selected for the
prestigious LeadershipSBOT program, an honor extended to only twenty attorneys statewide. He serves as an adjunct professor at UNT Dallas College of Law and was recently appointed to the State Bar of Texas Pattern Jury Charge Committee for Family Law and Probate; a role that reflects both his dedication to the practice of law and his commitment to shaping the future of Texas jurisprudence.
Beyond the practice of law, Mr. Thomas is an engaged and invested community leader. He is affiliated with the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce, the Dallas Probate Inn of Court, the J. L. Turner Legal Association, and the Dallas Area Young Lawyers Association. He also serves as Board Chair of Aurora, a Dallas-based nonprofit public arts organization. A licensed Realtor and sought-after public speaker, Mr. Thomas remains steadfast in his mission to empower, educate, and serve.
